College Counseling
Our goal for college counseling is to prepare students to make the best possible choice regarding college and their future. We know that when seniors open their acceptance letters with confidence, it will be a result of the work they put into the college counseling process. Each Mekeel student benefits from one-on-one counseling, access to admissions resources, meetings with college representatives, and campus visits. With the support of parents, students have several college options that match their individual interests, abilities, and goals.
Our goal is that students will become proactive in taking the steps that will help determine their future in college, becoming responsible decision-makers. Parent support and involvement is critical to college counseling, as ultimately the college choice will be a family decision.
Starting in 9th grade and culminating in the senior year, our college counseling process includes course selection counseling, test preparation, summer planning, guidance through the college admissions process, and providing information about financial aid and scholarship searches that will help students make their final decisions. Each year juniors and seniors can meet with the many college representatives that visit our school.
At MCA, we view college counseling as an opportunity to build character into the lives of the students. The ability to explore, plan, and make decisions will become part of a skill set that will drive a lifetime of success for each student. We are excited to see how God prepares our students and places them inside His plan for their lives.
Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge Him and He will direct your path. Proverbs 3:5-6
